6. Safety Issues When Using a Pole
Using a pole for fitness or dance involves physical exertion, grip strength, balance, and movement that carry inherent risks. By using a pole in any Pole Dance Pilates® class or following any online instruction, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
6.1 Equipment Safety
- You are responsible for ensuring that your pole is correctly installed, stable, and secure before use.
- Only use poles designed and rated for pole fitness or dance.
- Regularly inspect your pole for wear, looseness, or damage and discontinue use if any issue is identified.
- Follow manufacturer installation and maintenance instructions carefully.
6.2 Environment and Surface
- Use your pole in a clear, open space free from obstacles, sharp edges, or furniture.
- Ensure the floor and surrounding area are non-slippery and safe for exercise.
- Avoid using lotions, oils, or moisturizers before training, as they may reduce grip and increase the risk of slipping.
6.3 Personal Safety
- Warm up properly before each session and cool down afterward.
- Progress at your own pace — avoid attempting moves beyond your current ability or without proper instruction.
- If you experience dizziness, pain, or discomfort, stop immediately.
- Consider using a crash mat for additional safety, especially when practicing inversions or advanced tricks.
